Met with Katrina for breakfast. Well, she had 2 huge pancakes (yes, I have a photo of these too). I resisted the temptation as Maria's "Croissante con jamón" was resting heavily. Went to boozer to watch Russia v England in the Euro qualifiers. Great goal from Rooney after 30 mins. Power went on 35 mins (landlady hadn't paid the bill). Played pool and darts in the interim and when the power came back....STILL 1-0 to England. 15 mins later the Russians had sown the game up 2-1. England now odds on bet not to qualify.
First proper day on the football training. Tom and Dan cited hangovers as there reason for not going. Lots of kids in Zambiza. All shapes, all sizes. One niño was so small his bib went below his knees (check photo out on the right). I was impressed but not surprised by the natural talent of the kids. Not sure how they will adapt to next week's lessons ("the long ball" and "the two-footed challenge"). P'd down but all part of the fun. Desperately need to find football vocab in spanish.
Got back to the ranch, had dinner, listened to Maria moan about how the cousins never turn up for dinner. She KEEPS saying "I bet you weren't like that when you were 18". Hmmm. Mum?
