9th October

Well, I'd like to say the weather is getting better but it started raining at 6pm last night and it is still raining now (230 pm). Couldn't get a cab this morning for love nor money and walked 40 mins in a storm to get to school. Saturated by the time I arrived. Spent 4 hours explaining complicated girlfriend scenarios with Jimena with steam rising from my crotch, and not in a good way.

Off out tonight. First time since Friday. I didn't go out that much in BA but there was always something going on (probably as we ate much later) but in Quito if you don't go out there is little to do in the flat.

We came about 6th this week but lots more teams and the questions were solid in one of the rounds. Took great delight in beating the kids (Tom, Dan, Pete and a few others who were bigging up their combined knowledge). Kind of a double-edged sword as most of their answers seemed to be "well, I wasn't born then". They had 8 in their team, we had 4. One was Babs who speaks little English and the other was Tim who speaks English but to be honest we would have done better without him. It pains me that while I went to the bar my team singularly failed to know who the first president of the USA was. Had a good night nonetheless
